The five abilities OCA publishes

The official scope names Remembering Facts and Information; Reading, Understanding and Interpreting Written Material; Applying Facts and Information to Given Situations; Clerical Checking; and Court Record Keeping. Reading appears in two distinct formats, while clerical and record-keeping work use structured records rather than general-knowledge questions.

OCA does not publish the total number of questions, a per-area weighting, or the division between the two reading formats. Those values should be treated as unknown, not estimated from a practice product.

What the written exam is not

The statewide FAQ identifies this as an aptitude test, not a test of New York State law knowledge. The physical ability, background, medical, and appointment stages are separate from the written examination and are not prepared by RankHigh.
