The New York State laws subject area
One of the five subject areas samples the Penal Law, Criminal Procedure Law, Vehicle and Traffic Law and Family Court Act. All four are published free by the State, which is a large part of why this examination can be prepared honestly.
Which year's law applies, and why the answer is per-sitting
The announcements state a date and they do not all state the same one. Orange County's 9 November 2024 sitting tested the law in effect on 1 January 2023; its 18 October 2025 sitting tested 1 January 2025.
Because the answer changes between sittings of the same title in the same county, no page here states a single year as applying everywhere. Read your own announcement.
Statute is checkable, which is the point
An examination scored on published law is one a candidate can verify for themselves. Every law question in this package names the section it was written from, and those citations are machine-checked against the State Senate's own publication of the Consolidated Laws.
That is a deliberately narrow claim. It says the section exists and says what the question says it says. It does not say the Department would key a question the same way, and nothing here presents it as the Department's standard.
What is not reproduced
None of the guide's own worked examples, option sets or published solutions appears in this package. Statute text is quoted only where a question is about that text, which is the honest reason to quote it.
