Who can sit
The announcement restricts eligibility to DOCCS employees with 45 days of permanent competitive, or equivalent 55-b/55-c, service as Correction Lieutenant, held on or before the announcement's stated cutoff date. Peace officer certification through NYS DCJS training is a further requirement for appointment.
Seniority and veterans' credit
The written score, once produced, has seniority credit added to it — one credit for each five-year period of service, excluding the first year — and then wartime veterans' credit on top of that. Both figures come from your own service record, not from anything preparation can change.
