What you have to take

One exam, three classifications, and every agency sets its own pass point

BSCC's own current page states in its own words that it "uses a single selection exam" for entry-level Adult Corrections Officer, Juvenile Corrections Officer and Probation Officer applicants across the roughly 120 participating local agencies. Scoring is compensatory across all ten sections — BSCC's own Candidate Orientation Booklet says good performance on one section may offset weaker performance on another, and you pass or fail the exam as a whole rather than section by section. BSCC publishes no per-section weighting and no statewide passing score: each participating agency sets and publishes its own pass point, so what your score needs to be depends on which agency you are applying to.

How this preparation is built

These are the automated checks every question goes through before it can be served. They are run over the whole bank, by software, every time it changes.

  • Every question is original
  • Every question carries an approval record
  • Every answer is explained
  • The bank is measured, not just proofread
How questions are checked
Every question is original
Each one is written for RankHigh. Nothing is taken from a real examination, a competitor's bank or a public question set, and every new batch is checked for duplicates against every other question in the catalog.
Every question carries an approval record
A question that has not been through these checks is not served at all. That is what this product serves, not what has been written.
Every answer is explained
All of them, not the hard ones. An explanation says why the keyed answer is right and what each of the other options gets wrong, so a question you got wrong is worth more to you than one you got right.
The bank is measured, not just proofread
Answer positions, answer lengths and repeated scenarios are measured across the whole bank against chance. Where a pattern would let somebody pick the answer from its shape instead of its content, the questions are repaired — because a pattern you can learn here is one that will not be there on the day.

Questions

Does this cover the same exam whether I'm applying as ACO, JCO, or Probation Officer?

Yes. BSCC's own current page states it uses a single selection exam for all three entry-level classifications, and the Candidate Orientation Booklet describes the same ten sections with no classification-specific content anywhere in it. One product, one bank, all three classifications.

What score do I need to pass?

BSCC does not set a statewide passing score. It states scoring is compensatory across all ten sections and that you pass or fail the exam as a whole, and each participating agency sets its own pass point. Check the specific requirement for the agency you are applying to.

How many questions are on the real exam, and how long is it?

BSCC does not publish an exact item count or a per-section time limit. It publishes only that the whole exam takes about 2.5 hours and consists of multiple-choice questions across the ten sections. Nothing here invents a number BSCC has not published.

Is guessing penalized?

BSCC's Candidate Orientation Booklet advises answering every item because your score is simply the number of items answered correctly — so there is no reason to leave an item blank.

Does my score expire, or can I use it at more than one agency?

That depends on the agency. Some participating agencies accept a score from a recent prior administration within a stated window (for example, a 12-month score-transfer allowance); others require current testing. Check the specific agency's posting.

Has a person reviewed these questions?

Not yet. Every question has been through RankHigh's automated review, and the count of questions read by a human reviewer is zero. We say so rather than letting the word 'reviewed' do work it has not earned.

Is this a subscription?

No. It is a single payment of $49. Nothing recurring, nothing to cancel, and no card kept on file for later.

How long do I have access?

Your access opens online as soon as payment clears — there is nothing to wait for in the post. Your one-time purchase includes 90 days of access from the time payment clears. No subscription. No automatic renewal. One payment, nothing recurring, nothing to cancel.

Does RankHigh guarantee a passing score?

No, and be careful with anyone who does. What this does is show you which areas are costing you points and give you focused practice on them. The work is still yours to do.

RankHigh is an independent preparation product.
