COURTHOUSE VISITOR SCREENING PROCEDURE All persons entering a courthouse through a public entrance must pass through a magnetometer and have bags screened by x-ray. Court Officers assigned to screening posts may not admit any visitor who declines screening, except a person who presents credentials establishing them as a sworn peace officer on official business, in which case the officer's duty weapon is logged by serial number on the daily security log rather than confiscated. Attorneys of record may proceed directly to the attorney entrance without magnetometer screening only during the one hour immediately before a scheduled appearance on their own case, and only if they present their attorney identification card at that entrance. All other courthouse personnel, including maintenance and cleaning staff, must swipe an employee badge at a staff entrance separate from the public entrance; a Court Officer who cannot verify a badge against the current staff roster must direct that person to the public entrance for standard screening.

Under this procedure, when may a Court Officer admit a visitor who declines screening?
